Terms of Service.
These terms describe how Spray Irrigation Co. works with customers. Hiring Landon for any service means you've read and agreed to these terms. Nothing here is a surprise — these are the practices Landon uses on every job, written down.
This page is written in plain English so it's genuinely usable. It is a binding agreement between Spray Irrigation Co. and the customer. If you have specific legal questions about how it applies to your situation, consult a Texas attorney.
1. Who Spray Irrigation Co. is
Spray Irrigation Co. is a sole-proprietor Texas service business owned and operated by Landon Melvin, a licensed Texas Irrigator (TCEQ License {{LICENSE_NUMBER}}), based in North Richland Hills, Texas. All work is performed by Landon personally — there are no employees, crews, or subcontractors.
2. Services offered
Spray Irrigation Co. provides the following services to residential and light commercial customers:
- Sprinkler system repair — diagnosis and repair of existing irrigation systems
- Monthly Wet Check maintenance — subscription-based monthly inspection and adjustment
- Irrigation system installation — new systems, zone additions, drip conversions, controller upgrades
- Backflow preventer testing — annual compliance testing where required by municipality
Any service not listed above is not offered. Spray Irrigation Co. does not perform landscaping, sod installation, drainage construction, concrete or hardscape work, pool or water feature construction, outdoor lighting, or indoor plumbing.
3. Service area
Regular service is provided in six Texas cities: North Richland Hills (primary), Hurst, Watauga, Haltom City, Keller, and Southlake. Work outside these cities is accepted at Landon's discretion on a case-by-case basis. See Service Areas.
4. Pricing
Service call and labor
There is no service call fee. There is no trip fee. There is no minimum charge. Labor is billed at a flat $75 per hour, rounded to the nearest 15-minute increment after the first hour. The first hour is billed as one full hour regardless of how long the work actually takes.
Parts
Parts are billed at cost plus a modest markup that covers handling, warranty coordination, and sourcing. All parts are quoted and approved by the customer before installation. Customers may request itemized receipts for parts at any time.
Monthly Wet Check subscription
Wet Check maintenance is $15 per zone per month for residential properties. Commercial and multi-family properties are quoted individually. Subscriptions are month-to-month with no contract; customers may cancel at any time by texting or calling (817) 993-9306. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid month.
Installation quotes
New installation work is quoted individually after an on-site visit. The on-site quote visit is free and carries no obligation. Quotes are valid for 30 days; pricing may be adjusted after that window due to supplier price changes.
Invoices and payment
Invoices are provided at the completion of each visit. Payment is due at the time of service. Accepted payment methods: cash, check, credit card, Venmo, Zelle. For larger installation jobs, a deposit may be required before materials are ordered — terms will be stated in writing in the quote.
Late payments accrue interest at the lesser of 1.5% per month or the maximum rate permitted by Texas law. Invoices more than 60 days past due may be referred to a collections service at the customer's expense.
5. Scheduling and access
Scheduling
Repair visits are typically scheduled within 1–3 business days of the initial contact. Wet Check visits are scheduled monthly. Installation work is typically scheduled 1–3 weeks out depending on season and material lead times. Active Wet Check subscribers receive priority scheduling ahead of non-subscribers.
Arrival and cancellation
Landon aims to arrive within a scheduled window and will text approximately 30 minutes before arrival. If an unavoidable delay occurs, Landon will notify the customer as soon as possible.
Customers who need to reschedule or cancel should do so with at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations within 24 hours of a scheduled visit may be subject to a small fee, at Landon's discretion, if significant travel time or preparation was already committed.
Property access
The customer is responsible for ensuring Landon has access to the property and the relevant areas of the irrigation system at the scheduled time. This includes unlocked gates, secured pets, and visible access to controllers, valve boxes, and meter locations. If Landon cannot access the work area on arrival, the visit may be rescheduled and a trip fee may apply at Landon's discretion.
6. Warranty
Workmanship
All labor performed by Spray Irrigation Co. carries a 30-day workmanship guarantee. If a repair fails within 30 days of completion due to how the work was performed (not due to unrelated failures or customer modification), Landon will return and correct the issue at no additional labor cost. Parts that fail under warranty during this window are covered per the manufacturer's warranty terms; Landon will coordinate warranty claims on the customer's behalf.
Parts
Parts carry their manufacturer's warranty, which varies by brand and component. Typical manufacturer warranties range from 1 to 5 years. Warranty information for specific parts is available on request.
New installation warranty
Installation work carries separate warranty terms stated in writing in the installation quote and invoice. Typically: 1 year on labor, manufacturer warranty on parts. Installation warranties do not cover damage caused by freeze events that were not properly prepared for, soil movement, landscape modifications by others, or acts of God.
What warranties do not cover
- Damage caused by freezes when the system was not properly winterized
- Damage caused by third parties (landscapers, other contractors, tree roots, lawn equipment)
- Normal wear and tear on parts
- Pre-existing conditions in systems that were not disclosed at the time of service
- Water bill amounts — while Landon works to reduce unnecessary water use, actual water costs are between the customer and the water utility
7. Estimates and change orders
Written estimates are provided on request and before any installation work. For repair calls, cost estimates are provided verbally on-site before work begins, and the customer's approval to proceed is required.
If during a repair or installation additional problems are discovered that require more work than originally quoted, Landon will stop work, explain the additional scope and cost to the customer, and obtain approval before proceeding. The customer is not obligated to approve additional work.
8. Customer responsibilities
The customer agrees to:
- Provide accurate information about the property, the irrigation system, and any known issues
- Grant reasonable access to the property and the system during scheduled visits
- Secure pets and ensure safe working conditions
- Make timely payment per the invoice terms
- Not authorize other contractors to work on systems installed by Spray Irrigation Co. during the warranty period without first consulting Landon, as this may void the workmanship warranty
9. Limitations of liability
Spray Irrigation Co. carries general liability insurance. In the event of damage caused directly by Landon's work on your property, insurance claims are handled professionally and promptly. Proof of insurance is available on request.
To the maximum extent allowed by Texas law:
- Spray Irrigation Co.'s total liability for any claim related to services rendered is limited to the amount paid by the customer for the specific service that gave rise to the claim
- Spray Irrigation Co. is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost use of property, lost time, damage to landscaping or plants beyond the direct work area, or increased water bills
- Spray Irrigation Co. is not liable for pre-existing conditions of the irrigation system that were not disclosed or reasonably visible at the time of service
- Spray Irrigation Co. is not liable for damage caused by factors outside its control, including weather events, freeze damage to unwinterized systems, acts of God, third-party utility work, or customer modifications after service
None of this limits remedies available to the customer under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act or other applicable consumer protection law.
10. Licensing and regulatory compliance
All work performed by Spray Irrigation Co. complies with the Texas Administrative Code rules governing irrigation (30 TAC Chapter 344) and the licensing requirements of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). All installation and significant repair work that requires permitting is permitted through the appropriate municipal authority. Backflow preventer testing is performed by a licensed tester per municipal requirements.
11. Insurance
Spray Irrigation Co. carries general liability insurance from a Texas-licensed carrier. A Certificate of Insurance is available on request before any work begins.
12. Photos and privacy
Landon may take photos of your irrigation system, problem areas, or completed work for his own records, for quote documentation, or for customer communications. Photos may be used in marketing materials (website, social media, before/after galleries) only if customer-identifiable information is excluded — no photos of house exteriors, street numbers, or anything that identifies the property's address will be used without explicit written permission from the customer. See the Privacy Policy for details.
13. Dispute resolution
If a dispute arises, the customer agrees to first contact Landon directly at (817) 993-9306 or Info@sprayirrigationco.com to attempt a good-faith resolution. Most issues are resolved with a phone call.
If direct resolution is not possible, the parties agree to attempt non-binding mediation in Tarrant County, Texas before pursuing other remedies. If mediation is unsuccessful, any legal action arising from these terms shall be filed in the appropriate state or federal court located in Tarrant County, Texas, and the prevailing party in any such action is entitled to recover reasonable attorney's fees and costs.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
15. Severability
If any portion of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining portions remain in full effect.
16. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated. Significant changes affecting existing customers will be communicated by email. The current version of these terms always lives at sprayirrigationco.com/terms.html. Work performed under a specific quote is governed by the terms in effect when the quote was accepted.
